Don’t miss a trick – our top tips for staying safe this Halloween!

27 October 2016

With Halloween right around the corner, we’re here to help keep you up to date with the latest public transport information as you head out into the night!

The clocks are going back, the nights are drawing in and we’re all starting to wrap up that little bit warmer as we head outside. The festive season has well and truly arrived, and with Halloween only a few days away, we’re looking forward to embracing the chills and thrills of the holiday!

To arm you for the week ahead, we have put together our top tips for surviving this Halloween season, and all the information you’ll need to make sure your travels run smoothly so that you have a wickedly good weekend.

  1. Know what time your buses are running

With lots of spooky activities and parties taking place over the weekend, Halloween can sometimes be a cause for anti-social behaviour, and the streets can be busy with Trick or Treaters and those making their way out for the evening. Public transport services can therefore be subject to change to ensure the safety of all passengers (even the ones dressed as vampires).

Cardiff Bus have some planned diversions to their services in place on Monday 31st October and Saturday 5th November. Full details on these can be found here, or you can visit the Cardiff Bus website for more information.

Please note that in addition to the diversions on Saturday 5th November, a full city centre closure will be in place in Cardiff during the day due to the Wales v Australia game at the Principality Stadium.

We’ll be adding any new information on transport arrangements that we are aware of to our Disruptions page here or you can follow us on Twitter @TravelineCymru for on the go updates!

  1. Need some help? Give us a call for free on 0800 464 0000!

We’re really pleased to have launched our brand new, Freephone telephone number 0800 464 0000. The number is completely free to call, and our friendly team of bilingual contact centre agents will be on hand to answer any transport queries you may have.

  1. Stay safe by having the info you need to hand

Whether you’re catching the bus, train or taking a taxi, it is important to make sure you’re travelling as safely as possible.

Take a look at our Travel Safe information page for some helpful links and advice on being travel aware. You can take a read through the page for information on road safety and taxi companies, to advice from transport operators, the British Transport Police and more.

  1. Plan your journey in advance

Having your train and bus times to hand before your journey will give you confidence in knowing where you need to be.

Whatever you’re doing to get into the spirit of the season, make sure to keep our checklist handy so you are prepared. Don’t forget to download our free mobile app to your phone before going out! Available on iPhone and Android devices, you can use the app to plan your journey and find your timetables and bus stops wherever you may be going in Wales.

  1. Have your Halloween entertainment ready

And last but not least, it simply wouldn’t Halloween without a spine-tingling playlist for your journey, so load up your iPod with your favourite tracks or bring along your favourite horror novel, and settle in for your trip.

Have a scream, whatever your plans and safe travels!
