Stagecoach in South Wales celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

Five Stagecoach Apprentices in Stagecoach South Wales have used National Apprenticeship Week to encourage more people to join the bus industry through the company’s apprentice scheme.

Will Harnett, is a 4th year Apprentice Fitter who has worked across all depots in South Wales. William has already gained value experience during his time with Stagecoach and is very much looking forward to progressing in his career. He has mostly enjoyed working on various projects during his time at Stagecoach.

Chloe Jones, from Cwmbran joined the Stagecoach apprenticeship programme in 2016. Her interest in engineering was formed by working with her friend repairing car bodies, she loves working with the engineering team and aspires to be a great body fitter/sprayer. Chloe is now in her 3rd year as an Apprentice Body Fitter

Liam Jamieson, is a 2nd year Trade up Apprentice, Chris George and Daniel Barber are also 1st year Trade up Apprentices, they are all enjoying learning new skills, and working within the depot environments.

The Stagecoach Apprenticeship Programme was introduced 13 years ago, specifically designed to be one of the most comprehensive and challenging Apprenticeship Programmes in the bus industry. It is recognised as one of the best schemes aimed at producing qualified multi skilled technicians to work on increasingly more technologically advanced vehicles and aims to give participants the experience to become our future qualified technicians, engineering managers and even directors of the future.

Peter Henry, Engineering Director, Stagecoach in South Wales said: "The Stagecoach apprenticeship programme is providing the skills and training that the business needs for the next generation of staff who will maintenance stagecoach vehicles. We are enjoying working with the apprentices, and look forward to further applicants in the next recruitment programme”.
