Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd February

Buses replace trains between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 February

Engineering work is taking place between Crewe and Wilmslow, closing all lines.

CrossCountry:

Train services to / from Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted, and will not call at Crewe or Wilmslow. Replacement buses will run between:

  • Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly.
  • Crewe, Wilmslow and Stockport.


Northern:

On Saturday, no Northern service will run as a result of Industrial Action.

On Sunday, trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe will start from / terminate at Alderley Edge. A bus will operate between Wilmslow and Crewe.

Transport for Wales:

Transport for Wales services to / from Manchester Piccadilly will run on an alternative route, not calling at Stockport, Wilmslow or Crewe. Replacement buses will run between Stockport and Crewe via Wilmslow. Most trains will also start / terminate at Manchester Oxford Road.

Virgin Trains:

Train services between to / from Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted to run via Macclesfield, and will not call at Crewe or Wilmslow.

Replacement buses will run between Macclesfield and Wilmslow. Customers travelling between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly should use alternative services between Crewe and Wilmslow, then use replacement buses between Macclesfield and Wilmslow to connect with train services to / from Manchester Piccadilly.

 

 

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd February

Buses replace trains between Birmingham New Street / Worcester Shrub Hill and Cheltenham Spa / Gloucester on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 February

Engineering work is taking place between Ashchurch for Tewkesbury and Cheltenham / Gloucester, closing all lines.

CrossCountry:

Replacement buses will run between:

  • Birmingham New Street and Cheltenham Spa.
  • Birmingham New Street and Gloucester.
  • Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester.

Great Western Railway:

Buses replace trains between:

  • Worcester Shrub Hill and Gloucester.
  • Ashchurch for Tewkesbury and Gloucester.
  • Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester.

Rail connections for stations towards Hereford will be available from Worcester Shrub Hill.

Transport for Wales:

Services between Maesteg / Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa will be amended to run between Maesteg / Cardiff Central and Gloucester. Customers should use alternative services between Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa.

 

 

Sunday 3rd:

Buses replace trains between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town due to engineering work.
 

Buses replace trains between Cardiff Central and Rhymney due to engineering work.


Engineering work is taking place in the Cardiff Queen Street area, closing some lines:

  • Buses replace trains until 12:20 between Cardiff Queen Street and Radyr.
    Trains will not run to / from Cardiff Bay. Customers should travel on the no.6 bus service.
  • Train services to / from Treherbert / Aberdare / Merthyr Tydfil will be diverted by an alternative route to Cardiff Central, and will not call at Llandaf or Cathays.
  • Replacement buses will run between Radyr and Llandaf / Cathays.

Buses replace trains between Bridgend and Swansea / Carmarthen due to engineering work between Pyle and Swansea:

Great Western Railway:

Replacement buses will run between Bridgend and Swansea, with both direct buses (Bridgend and Swansea only) and stopping buses (Bridgend to Swansea calling at Port Talbot Parkway and Neath).

Customers travelling to / from Carmarthen should use Transport for Wales services.

Transport for Wales:

Buses replace trains between Bridgend and Llanelli, and also between Bridgend and Carmarthen.

 

 

Monday 4th to Thursday 7th February:

Amended late night Transport for Wales train services due to engineering work taking place at various places in the Cardiff area, closing some lines.

As a result, the following trains will be amended:

  • The 22:38 Merthyr Tydfil to Cardiff Central service will be diverted, not calling at stations via Llandaf. A replacement bus will run from Radyr to Cardiff Central to serve these stations.
  • The 22:45 Barry Island to Pontypridd will be diverted, not calling at stations via Llandaf. A replacement bus will run between Cardiff Central and Pontypridd, serving these stations.
  • The 22:50 Penarth to Ystrad Mynach service will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run between Cardiff Central and Ystrad Mynach.
  • The 23:14 Radyr to Barry Island service will be diverted, not calling at stations via Llandaf. A replacement bus will run between Radyr and Barry Island via these stations.

 

 

Monday 4th to Thursday 7th February:

Buses replace evening trains between Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Bay.

Engineering work is taking place between Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Bay overnight from Monday evening until Friday morning.

After 23:15 each night, buses will replace trains between Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Bay.

 

 

Monday 4th to Thursday 7th February:

Buses replace late night trains between Cardiff Central and Rhymney due to overnight engineering work from Monday evening until Friday morning.

As a result, buses will replace trains after 23:00 from Monday to Thursday between Cardiff Central and Rhymney. Additionally, the 22:35 Cardiff Central to Rhymney will be replaced by a bus throughout.

 

 

Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th Febraury

Buses replace trains between Fishguard Harbour and Carmarthen due to engineering work, closing all lines.
 
Buses replace trains between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly due to engineering work taking place between Crewe and Wilmslow, closing all lines.

CrossCountry:

Train services to / from Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted, and will not call at Crewe or Wilmslow. Replacement buses will run between:

  • Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly.
  • Crewe, Wilmslow and Stockport.

Northern:

Sunday 10th February:

Buses replace trains between Wrexham and Bidston due to engineering work taking place between Wrexham General and Bidston, closing all lines.
 

Buses replace trains between Aberystwyth and Newtown due to engineering work taking place between Aberystwyth and Newtown, closing the line.
 

Buses replace trains between Cardiff Central and Newport due to engineering work taking place between Cardiff Central and Newport, closing all lines.

Transport for Wales

Valley Lines

Up until 12:40 :-

  • Rhymney/Ystrad Mynach services will run to / from Cardiff Bay.
  • Barry Island / Bridgend services will run to/from Ninian Park with a replacement bus service running between Cogan and Cardiff Central.

After 12:40:-

All Valley lines services will operate as normal, but some services will use platform 8 allowing mainline services to use platform 6 at Cardiff Central.

Mainline services

  • Ebbw Vale services are diverted to Newport with bus connections to / from Cardiff Central at Pye Corner
  • Cardiff Central to Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa services run to / from Newport.

North & West services run to/from Newport.

West Wales services run to / from Bridgend up until 12:30 with a bus service running between Cardiff Central to Bridgend serving stations via Pontyclun.

After 12:30 West Wales services run to / from Cardiff Central (platform 6) via Leckwith Loop.

 

 

Monday 11th to Thursday 14th February

Buses replace some late night Transport for Wales services to / from Manchester Piccadilly due to engineering works taking place in the Manchester Piccadilly area, closing some lines after 23:25 each night.


As a result, the following Transport for Wales services will be amended:

  • The 21:04 service from Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly will be replaced by a bus from Warrington Banck Quay to Manchester Piccadilly
  • The 00:32 service from Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will be replaced by a bus

 

 

Amended late night services between Cardiff Central and Bridgend due to engineering work taking place in the Cardiff area, closing some lines after 22:20 each night.


As a result, the following trains will be amended:

  • The 17:20 Crewe to Cardiff Central (via Knighton) service will arrive into Cardiff Central later than usual
  • The 19:31 Manchester Piccadilly to Fishguard Harbour service will be diverted between Cardiff Central and Bridgend. A bus will run from Cardiff Central to Bridgend, calling at Pontyclun, Llanharan or Pencoed, and will connect into the diverted train at Bridgend.

 

 

 

Monday 11th to Friday 15th February

Buses replace trains between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth from 23:00 to 05:45 each night due to engineering work taking place between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth, closing some lines from 23:00 until 05:45 each night.


Some buses will depart earlier than the usual train time, in order to connect into trains.

 

 

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th February

Buses replace trains between Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven / Pembroke Dock and Whitland. This is a result of engineering work taking place between Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven and Whitland on Saturday and Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven / Pembroke Dock and Whitland on Sunday, closing all lines.
Saturday

All day Saturday buses will replace trains between Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven and Whitland.

Sunday

All day Sunday buses will replace trains between Pembroke Dock / Milford Haven / Fishguard Harbour and Whitland.

 

 

Buses replace trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe due to engineering work taking place between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February, closing all lines.

The following changes to the train service will apply:

CrossCountry:

CrossCountry services scheduled to run between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe will instead divert via Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford, and therefore will not call at Wilmslow or Crewe.

Rail replacement buses will run in place of trains between Manchester Piccadilly / Stockport / Wilmslow and Crewe.

Northern:

On Saturday, no Northern service will run as a result of Industrial Action.

On Sunday, trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe will start from / terminate at Alderley Edge. A bus will operate between Wilmslow and Crewe.

Transport for Wales:

All day Saturday and Sunday trains will start from / terminate at Manchester Oxford Road and will be diverted by Warrington Bank Quay.  Buses will run between Stockport, Wilmslow and Crewe.

Virgin Trains:

Virgin Trains services scheduled to run between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe will instead divert via Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford, and therefore will not call at Wilmslow or Crewe.

Buses will run between Wilmslow and Macclesfield and a limited replacement bus service will supplement the train service between Crewe and Stafford.

Some Virgin Train services travelling south from Liverpool Lime Street will call additionally at Crewe.

Customers wanting to travel to Crewe from Manchester Piccadilly should travel via Stafford to connect with alternative Virgin Trains services and rail replacement buses.

Customers travelling to / from Wilmslow should use rail replacement buses to travel via Macclesfield.

 

 

Sunday 17th February:

Buses replace trains until 13:35 between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town due to engineering work taking place until 13:35 between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town, closing all lines.
 

 

Buses replace trains between Wrexham and Bidston due to engineering work taking place between Wrexham General and Bidston, closing all lines.
 

 

Buses replace trains between Machynlleth and Newtown due to engineering work taking place between Machynlleth and Newtown, closing the line.
 

 

Buses replace trains between Bristol Parkway / Severn Tunnel Junction and Cardiff Central. This is because of engineering work that is taking place between Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport, closing all lines between these stations.

As a result, the following changes will apply to the train service:

CrossCountry:

CrossCountry services scheduled to travel to / from Cardiff Central will terminate at / start back from Severn Tunnel Junction.

Buses will replace trains between Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport, you may use your ticket on Transport for Wales services between Newport and Cardiff Central.

Great Western Railway:

Great Western Railway services scheduled to travel to / from Cardiff Central may either terminate at / start back from Bristol Parkway or be cancelled, and buses will replace trains between Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central.

Trains will continue to run between Cardiff Central and Carmarthen / Swansea.

Transport for Wales:

Trains between Cardiff Central and Manchester Piccadilly will start / terminate at Cwmbran.  Replacement buses will connect into and out of trains at Cwmbran.   Trains between Cardiff Central and Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa will start / terminate at Severn Tunnel Junction.  Replacement buses will connect into and out of trains at Severn Tunnel Junction.

 

 

Monday 18th to Thursday 21st February

Buses replace trains between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town after 21:30 each night as a result of engineering work taking place between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town, closing all lines.
 

Buses replace some late night Transport for Wales services to / from Manchester Piccadilly. This is a result of engineering work taking place in the Manchester Piccadilly area, closing some lines after 23:25 each night.

  • The 21:04 service from Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly will be replaced by a bus from Warrington Bank Quay to Manchester Piccadilly.
  • The 00:32 service from Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will be replaced by a bus.
  • The 03:36 Chester to Manchester Airport will start later (04:00) and be run via a diverted route.
  • The 05:33 Manchester Airport to Llandudno Junction will start from Manchester Piccadilly at 05:47.

Buses replace trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe due to engineering work taking place between Wilmslow and Crewe, closing all lines.

The following changes to the train service will apply:

CrossCountry services will divert via Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford and will not call at Wilmslow or Crewe.

Rail replacement buses will run between Manchester Piccadilly / Stockport / Wilmslow and Crewe.

Northern:

Saturday

Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe will be revised to terminate / start at Alderley Edge.

Replacement buses will operate between Wilmslow and Crewe.

Sunday

Trains between Manchester and Wilmslow via Manchester Airport will be revised to start / terminate at Manchester Airport.

Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe via Stockport will NOT run.

Replacement buses will operate between Manchester Airport and Wilmslow and also between Stockport and Crewe.

Transport for Wales:

Services to / from Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted to run via Warrington Bank Quay. Some services will be amended to start / terminate at Manchester Oxford Road.

Replacement buses will run between Stockport, Wilmslow and Crewe.

Virgin Trains:

Trains to / from Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted to run via Stoke-on-Trent, calling additionally at Macclesfield.

Replacement buses will run between Macclesfield and Wilmslow.

Additionally:

Saturday:

  • A replacement bus will run from Stafford for Crewe, connecting with the 21:00 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly service.
  • The 05:46 and 17:47 Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston services will additionally call at Crewe.

Sunday:

  • A replacement bus will run from Stafford to Crewe, connecting with the 21:51 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly service.

 

 

Sunday 24th February:

Buses replace evening trains between Shrewsbury / Chester and Crewe on Sunday 24 February. This is due to engineering work taking place between Shrewsbury and Crewe from 22:05, closing all lines.


As a result:

  • The 21:09 Birmingham International to Chester service will be diverted via Wrexham General (not calling). Customers for Crewe should change at Shrewsbury for a replacement bus to Crewe.
  • The 21:12 Cardiff Central to Chester service will be diverted via Wrexham General (not calling). Customers for Yorton, Wem, Prees, Whitchurch, Wrenbury, Nantwich and Crewe should change at Shrewsbury for a replacement bus to Crewe.
  • The 23:00 Chester to Shrewsbury service will start at 23:19, and will be diverted via Wrexham General (not calling). A replacement bus will run between Crewe to Shrewsbury.

 

 

Buses replace trains between Machynlleth and Newtown due to engineering work, closing all lines.
 

Buses replace trains between Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock due to engineering work taking place between Whitland and Tenby, closing all lines.
 

Buses replace trains between Bridgend / Barry Island / Penarth and Cardiff Central until 12:25 due to engineering work between Penarth / Barry Island and Cardiff Central, closing all lines.
As a result until 12:25, buses will replace trains between:

  • Bridgend and Cardiff Central (via Barry).
  • Barry Island and Cardiff Central.
  • Penarth and Cardiff Central

 

 

Monday 25th February to Friday 1st March:

Buses replace late night / early morning trains in the Cardiff area due to engineering work taking place between Cardiff Central and Penarth / Barry Island, closing lines overnight from Monday evening until Friday morning.

Monday to Thursday:

  • The 20:38 Merthyr Tydfil to Bridgend service will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend.
  • The 21:38 Merthyr Tydfil to Bridgend service will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend.
  • The 21:52 Aberdare to Penarth service will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run between Cardiff Central and Penarth.
  • The 22:42 Bridgend to Cardiff Central service will be replaced by a bus throughout.
  • The 23:14 Radyr to Barry Island service will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend.
  • The 23:26 Penarth to Cardiff Central service will be replaced by a bus throughout.


Tuesday to Friday:

  • The 05:15 Barry Island to Caerphilly service will start from Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run from Barry Island at 04:51 to Cardiff Central to connect with the train.
